Social and Affordable Housing Fund 2 unlocks Livable Housing

Livable Housing Australia today welcomed the second announcement of funding from the $1.1b Social and Affordable Housing Fund with Housing Plus, SGCH, Uniting and Anglicare successful in their bids to deliver around 1000 new social and affordable homes with dwellings designed to the principles of Livable Housing Design silver.

The delivery of the next wave of SAHF 2 through these two leading CHPs is a strong show of support for the Sector as solid injection in universal designed, affordable and social housing partnership investment.

The first phase which also had a focus on livable housing is underway to deliver 2200 homes across NSW and they are being built by BaptistCare, Compass Housing Services Co, SGCH Sustainability Limited, St Vincent de Paul Housing and Uniting. This initial phase, which launched in May 2017, looked to house single-parent families with a focus on women affected by domestic violence.

The second phase of homes is targeted at older residents which Livable Housing dwellings are perfect for, with homes being built along with services that support them such as medical services as well as usual amenities like schools.

These are leading best practice universally designed dwellings that will be available for families whatever stage of life they are at.

Here is a partnership with the CHP Sector being developed by Government to provide accessible, best practice affordable and social housing.

Whilst a partnership in SAHF2 brings together these four key CHPs to role out new acceible dwellings, it also brings in world leading expertise from global brand partners and learnings to have the best adaptable homes available for fanmilies for generations.

Building in the principles of Livable Housing Design at first principle is the best way to make homes suitable for the needs of most Australians today from cradle to grave. As there is a lot of living to do in this long lifespan it is critical to provide the right features of a home for the best quality of life and here is another injection of new best practice homes being delivered right here
